ProTradeJournal

Configuration & Setup

A trading journal is only as useful as the data you feed it. By properly configuring your custom setups, checklists, broker charges, and behavioral mistake list, the analytics engine can calculate exact expectancy and identify your key performance leaks.

Strategies & Checklists

Define the technical or fundamental setups you trade (e.g., "Cup & Handle Breakout", "High Tight Flag", "Episodic Pivot").

For each strategy, you can build a custom **Pre-Trade Checklist** (e.g., "RSI is below 70", "Volume is > 1.5x average", "RS line is at new highs"). When logging a trade, you check off these rules. The journal will subsequently tell you:

  • Strategy Expectancy: Which pattern makes the most money per rupee risked.
  • Checklist Discipline: Do your profits increase when you follow all checklist rules vs. when you skip them?

Trade Mistake Tracker (Behavioral Audit)

Consistency is not just about finding winners; it is about cutting down unforced errors. Define your common psychological mistakes (e.g., "FOMO Entry", "Chased Gap Up", "Averaged Down", "Moved Stop Loss").

When reviewing closed trades, tag any unforced errors. The mistake analysis dashboard aggregates these and calculates:

  • Total Mistake Cost: The exact amount of money in ₹ you have lost due to poor discipline.
  • Frequency: Which mistakes you commit most frequently, showing you where to focus your psychological improvements.

Exit Reasons

Create standardized exit rules (e.g., "Hit Target", "Hit Stop Loss", "Moving Average Violation", "Earnings Release", "Discretionary Exit").

By tracking exit reasons, the metrics engine runs a comparative review to tell you if your discretionary exits are saving you money or cutting your winners short.

Broker Integration

Connect your brokerage consoles. Under Broker settings, you can configure integrations with Zerodha, Upstox, Groww, Angel One, Dhan, and Fyers.

Authorize the read-only API access to import fills automatically, eliminating manual typing errors and keeping your equity curve and open trades live.

Tax & Charges (Brokerage Fee Configurations)

Your true bottom line must account for friction. Under Tax & Charges, input your broker's specific charges:

  • Brokerage Fees: Set flat per-trade charges (e.g., ₹20 for NSE intraday/F&O) or percentage charges (e.g., 0.03%).
  • Regulatory Charges: Configure STT (Securities Transaction Tax), Stamp Duty, Exchange Transaction Charges, and GST.
